About Tradefair

Tradefair is one of the newest spread betting platforms in the UK and offers 1 point spreads and low deposit margins across thousands of markets. Tradefair’s brand new real time trading platform (in addition to mobile trading on the iPhone) makes them excellent for first time spread bettors.  Beginners can also open a free demo account here and practice trading with £5,000 in virtual cash.

Tradefair Spreads is part of the London Capital Group, an FSA regulated financial organisation which is listed on the London Stock Exchange.  Tradefair is also owned and funded by Betfair, the world’s largest internet sports betting exchange.  You can also trade Forex and CFD’s on Tradefair’s sister site LMAX.

Range of Markets, Spreads and Min IMR

Tradefair offers around 2,000 financial markets and derivatives including indices, shares, forex, commodities, interest rates and government bonds.  All of these include automatic stop-losses (stop-losses are not guaranteed).  In terms of market options you’ll find slightly less markets here than Capital Spreads (3,500 markets) which is also run by the London Capital Group, and a lot less than City Index which offers more than 7,000 global and UK shares markets.  Tradefair does offer excellent spreads and deposit margins though which makes them stand out from the crowd, allowing you to bet from just £1 per point.  (If you want to open positions from a minimum of 25p per point than you might want to take a look at City Index’s 4 week “Learn to Trade Program” here).

New customers can open £1 trades on the UK 100 Rolling Daily and Futures with a minimum IMR of £30. Tradefair offers 1 point and 4 point spreads on the Rolling DAX and S&P 500 respectively.  In Forex you can bet 1 point spreads on the EUR/GPD and EUR/USD which is just as good as Capital Spreads and City Index.

Trading Tools and Features

With an emphasis on new traders, Tradefair Spreads offers a range of online webinars, spread betting guides and technical charts to help you make profitable trades.  Unique features such as the Autochartist (automatically sends you alerts by identifying chart patterns in markets), market data, trading journals and blogs at the LMAX community and an economic calendar is all very useful.  Unfortunately what I think lets Tradefair Spreads down is the lack of fundamentals news alerts, however the sheer range of trading chart videos and webinars is really great for beginners.  You can learn all about specific chart patterns and how technical indicators can help you trade profitably through these online videos.

Tradefair also offers mobile trading to its customers in the form of a very hand trading app.  The Tradefair Spreads iPhone App can be downloaded either from the website or from the Apple App Store.  It offers a range of features including the ability to open/close trades, amend stop-losses, view markets, detailed technical charts (including Bollinder Bands, MAs, MACDs and Williams %R), account summaries, valuations, cash resources and margin requirements.

Demo Account for Beginners

If you’re a total beginner than you might want to sign up to Tradefair’s demo account.  The demo account can be used in concatenation with the online workshop to help you practices trading on a simulated market platform with £5,000 in virtual cash.  You can open/close or partially close trades on a range of markets such as currencies, shares, commodities and interest rates.
